God Direction: Recalculating...
Now you know I've lost my marbles! The idea that God would recalculate His direction? If you would please bear with me I will try to explain.
As you look through this web site, I hope one thing you will notice is a theme of listening for God's Direction, but what if you don't hear it or you stray from God's will? I don't know how much experience you have with GPS guidance systems but we have a Garmin. There are times when I will miss understand the directions and miss a turn or turn the wrong way. At that time the Garmin will say "recalculating..." What I want to get across in this God direction is that we will make mistakes; we will make wrong turns; we will sin.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God1
The Good News is that when we make the wrong turn, when we sin, God doesn't stop giving us direction. Let's put it this way, if our God Direction was plugged into a Garmin we would hear "recalculating..."
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him...2
When we make a wrong turn in life, we can rest assured that if we ask for forgiveness and seek God's guidance, He will show us the way. God will work even our sins for good (Isaiah 38:17 Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back.3)
We can have hope in knowing that even when we feel we were forced into a different direction because of something that someone else has done, God will work that for good as well (Genesis 50:20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done...4 ).
The bottom line is: God has a plan, direction, for your life (Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.5). Don't let the fear of failure, of making mistakes, or the difficulties of the journey keep you from the path that God has laid out for you. It's not too late to seek and listen for God's will.
Let's Pray: Heavenly Father, I have sinned. I have made wrong turns on the path you have for me. Forgive me; help me to follow your ways. Send the Holy Spirit to guide me. In Christ's Name I pray, Amen
